CM KPK Sohail Afridi, PTI leaders and workers stage a sit-in outside the Supreme Court over Imran Khan’s medical report.

PTI Says Imran Khan’s Medical Report to Be Shared with Family

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja on Friday said that the family of former prime minister Imran Khan’s Medical Report following a day-long sit-in staged by party leaders and workers outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad.

Speaking to the media, Raja said the protest was held to facilitate a meeting between the incarcerated PTI founder and his personal physicians and to seek transparency regarding his medical condition. The sit-in was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, along with several PTI lawmakers.

Raja said the former premier had been taken to a hospital without informing his family and that conflicting information regarding his health had raised serious concerns. He added that PTI had remained in contact throughout the day with the Chief Justice of Pakistan, court officials, and the Attorney General of Pakistan; however, the outcome of these efforts remained unsatisfactory.

According to Raja, authorities have agreed to provide Imran Khan with his medical reports in a sealed envelope, while a copy would be handed over to his family, including his sisters. He said the report would clarify the diagnosis and details of the medical procedure carried out at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad.

The development follows confirmation by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar that Imran Khan underwent a medical procedure for an eye ailment at PIMS on the night of January 24. PTI leaders, however, questioned the official account, stating that the family and party were neither informed nor consulted.

Raja stressed that Imran Khan’s health remained the party’s top priority and said the family would decide whether the treatment being provided was satisfactory after reviewing the report. He added that PTI would continue its protest for visitation rights and that the party’s political committee would meet later to determine the future course of action in consultation with opposition leaders.

Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that denying fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution amounted to oppression, calling the handling of Imran Khan’s medical treatment illegal and inhumane.

Earlier, PTI leaders had also staged a sit-in outside Adiala Jail, which continued into the early hours of Friday, before moving to the Supreme Court premises. Addressing the media, KP Chief Minister Gandapur said the nation was deeply concerned about the health of Imran Khan and warned that the party would announce further action if its demands were not met.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan and party leaders also demanded that doctors from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital be allowed to examine the former prime minister, describing secrecy around his medical condition as damaging to democratic norms.
