CDF Asim Munir, Turkish Chief of General Staff Discuss Regional Security and Defence Cooperation

Rawalpindi: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and CDF Asim Munir on Friday held talks with Turkiye’s Chief of General Staff, General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, focusing on the regional and global security environment as well as prospects for enhanced bilateral defence cooperation.

According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Bayraktaroglu called on CDF Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. Upon his arrival, the Turkish military chief was presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan armed forces.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the prevailing regional and global security landscape, and avenues for strengthening defence and military-to-military cooperation. The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Turkiye relations and emphasised the importance of continued close coordination and deeper defence collaboration.

Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the longstanding brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye, underpinned by shared history, mutual trust, and strong people-to-people ties. He appreciated the support and cooperation extended by the Turkish armed forces and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral military relations.

General Bayraktaroglu thanked the Pakistani leadership for the warm reception and commended the professionalism of the Pakistan armed forces. He reiterated Turkiye’s resolve to expand defence cooperation through training programmes, joint military exercises, and capacity-building initiatives.

ISPR stated that the visit reflects the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye and their shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and security.
